Stratford’s DIY Pressing Plant for Independent Artists
Vinyl Cuts Records was a Stratford-based pressing plant run by Darren Murphy and his father Terence, part of a family already connected to local music through the Bridge House pub. Established in 1984, the company provided affordable vinyl cutting and pressing for independent artists and labels, and quickly became an essential resource for London’s underground scenes. Many associated with Rudy Tambala, A.R. Kane and Uncle 22 pressed their records here, reflecting its importance across genres from indie and dream pop to jungle. Known for a DIY, supportive ethos, Vinyl Cuts helped countless small labels and musicians get their music onto wax during the 1980s and early 1990s before winding up in 1991.
